What are the possible causes?

Common causes are ovulation problems, presence of fibroids or polyps, etc. Irregular bleeding may also be due to underlying pathology, such as cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, or a certain type of cancer.

At Sparrsh Clinic, we recommend annual screening of breast and gynecological diseases. When incorporated into wellness programs, preventative health screenings can save lives.

What services are provided under a well-women examination?

We offer a range of preventive services including general health, diseases, infections, nutrition counseling, adolescent health issues (menstrual problems) pregnancy, post-pregnancy care (breastfeeding guidance, anxiety or depression screening and management), contraceptive counseling, screening for cancer, menopause and psychological counseling.

What happens during the exam?

  • Your examination will be depending on your age, health status, reproductive health needs, pregnancy status, and risk factors.
  • Your general health checkup will include blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, etc.
  • Our doctor will discuss your health and lifestyle behaviors and will perform a physical exam of your breast and pelvis.
  • Depending on age, a mammogram, Pap smear, bone density and possibly a test for the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) may be suggested.
  • Bone density is measured by an x-ray that determines the level of calcium and other minerals in your bones.
  • Breast cancer screening as part of a well-woman health screening is made up of a clinical breast exam and a mammogram. Our doctor can show you how to perform regular breast exams at home every month.
  • The pelvic exam is the physical exam for screening signs of health conditions including cysts, fibroids and STIs. Generally, in non-pregnant women, screening pelvic examinations begin at the age of 21. Some women experience a bit of discomfort during the pelvic exam, but it’s not painful.

Do women need a well-woman visit every year?

It is recommended that women receive at least one preventive care visit per year. If you are a woman between the ages of 50 and 74 then you should be screened every two years.

At Sparrsh Clinic, we offer a safe and comfortable environment for our patients and their confidentiality is maintained. Along with physical examination, we give equal emphasis on mental health assessments and we specialize in providing care that is tailored to your individual needs, at every stage of your life.
